Default Java Update Download

I inadvertently said, "Oh! Okay!" when the Java monitor told me there
was an update. Unfortunately, I'm on a dial-up connection and the
download has tied it up every time I've logged on for the past two
days. I have no idea how far along it is, or how to tell it I've
changed my mind. I also can't get the Java site to load to find out
how big this thing actually is.

My usage is also metered, so I can't just let it run.

I know this isn't a programming issue, but I'm hoping someone here can
tell me where to find the controller and how to turn the blasted thing
off.

Thanks!

(Win 7)

Thank you. That lets me change the update settings, but it doesn't
let me terminate the download that's already in progress?

Windows Task Manager? Dunno, my only Win 7 is on a laptop that I don't
get to use much.

See http://mindprod.com/jgloss/jre.html
or http://mindprod.com/jgloss/jdk.html for sizes and links to explicit
update. Turn off auto update in Java control panel.

If there is a computer club nearby, see if you can talk someone into
burning a CD for you with the downloads you need.

One of the most useful comments you can put in a program is
"If you change this, remember to change ?XXX? too".
